The MPN Voice Fundraising Team would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who took part in fundraising events and made donations in 2023, and to all your amazing supporters for their generosity. There have been many inspirational fundraising events all with very moving stories behind the motivation to raise incredible funds for MPN Voice.
Every year we are amazed by the variety of challenges and fundraising events that you all take part in, and you didn’t disappoint us this year with these fabulous challenges:
St Bees to Robin Hood Family Trek; The Great North Run; London, Brighton, Manchester, Dublin, Oxford, Rugby and Leicester marathons and half marathons; Flaming June Run; Thames Bridges Trek; Variety Concert; Birthday Appeals; MPN Voice Donation Gift Cards; Bake Sales; Yorkshire 3 Peaks; Blood Cancer Awareness Swim; Bits and Bobs Home and Garden sale with honesty box; Irish Music Concert; Hospital Abseil and a variety of “Red” activities in September along with Walk to Support 2.
Our 2nd global challenge “walk to support” held during the September Blood Cancer Awareness Month had participants in the US, Australia, Europe as well as the UK. We had families, couples, groups of friends and individual walkers doubling the amount raised last year. We wanted to continue to make this as inclusive and as easy to take part as possible, participants chose a distance to walk – 5km, 10km or 20km – in a location of their choice, and could be done in one go or spread over a week, and we encouraged walkers to walk with a pet of their choice, as well as with friends and family or alone. We are so grateful to all those who took part and made the event such a massive success. We look forward to repeating this next year, so if you missed out in 2023 there is always 2024!
You have not only continued to raise awareness about MPNs, MPN Voice and the work we do to support our MPN Voice Community, you have also raised much needed funds to help us continue our commitment to support many research projects, which includes: the MASCOT study, MITHRIDATE which is a first line study for 596 patients with PV; and MOSAICC which is a large epidemiology study following on from the successful pilot. In 2024 we are looking to support further research, bring news of new research and a revamp of our research pages on our website.
We look forward to fundraising events in 2024, we will help you organize any event you would like to do. We have limited places each year for the London Marathon, London Landmarks Half Marathon and London Royal Parks Half Marathon. We also have the Abseil each September from the roof of St Thomas’ Hospital. And new for Jan 2024, The Winter Walk fundraising event, on 27 and 28 Jan 24, choose from either a full marathon, half marathon or 10K options, starting and finishing at The Oval Cricket Ground London, taking in highlights of many of the capital’s key landmarks. Details for all these events can be found on our website.
